I am so angry with the "Church," when I should actually be mad at myself for blindly following, like a lamb to the slaughter...

I, too, was raised in the Mormon church in Provo, UT. Some of my best friends growing up were non-members, and the other girls at Church often tried to make me feel bad for being a "true Christian" and befriending the "Gentiles."

I went to BYU, and even graduated from law school. I am highly educated, and I reason through everything, and yet, I failed myself by letting others dictate how and what I should believe.

I felt tremendous pressure to marry, and was told on many occasions that I should drop out of school to marry... I married after graduation. It was a Temple Marriage.

My husband was a first class bastard, but because he holds the priesthood, and I'm just a "breeder," well, let's just say that he got away with everything. He made me so physically ill with his mind games and lies that I spent a lot of time in the ER. I went to my Bishop many times, only to be ignored and basically told to my face that I am a liar and he is so "in tune with the Spirit."

The Bishop would ask me how I'm doing, and I would tell him that I was ill, but then he'd ask my husband, who'd tell him that I was just fine. Then the Bishop would act all shocked and surprised when he'd find out I was back in the hospital getting another organ removed.

I told the Bishop we were headed for a divorce, but once more he listened to my husband, who told him that I was simply going through some sort of postpartum depression.

I should have walked away from this marriage years ago, but once more I let this religious cult dictate my actions. I went through HELL with this man, and yet I am the bad one who didn't try hard enough because I supposedly wasn't wearing my garment bottoms. (You try to wear them when you have had two different types of surgery on your stomach within six weeks....)

The Bishop finally agreed that maybe we'd be better off apart after my husband had slandered me to every willing person who wanted to gossip (i.e. the whole Mormon Church). The only question the Bastard had was who gets the children if we get a Temple Cancellation. This makes me extremely bitter because I bore those two, beautiful children. I was so sick through both of my pregnancies and I have practically raised them single handedly with no help from him, and yet he thinks that he somehow will be saved by God because he's been "sealed" to them.

And now I'm a leper in the Church. You should see the way people are treating me. And women who never spoke one word to me before are saying such cruel things to me because they want to give me "some friendly advice."

I haven't attended Church in months, and this is truly the happiest I have ever felt. For once I feel true joy and peace. I do worry about the future...I know that I need to leave this damn State (and cult) if I want to save myself...

Exactly 25 years ago, I completed a two-year mission for the LDS church. In the final hours of my mission, I had the first of two encounters with Robert D. Hales, of whom some of you might know.

First, some background. As an overachieving eldest child, I approached my mission with the same fervor as my other endeavors growing up. I gave everything. The Austria Vienna Mission is acknowledged as one of the most difficult in the world. Certainly it is one of the least “successful” based on conversion rates. But I pretended not to notice. I worked as hard as anyone, knocking on countless doors, staying out till my body ached. I often fell asleep, exhausted, during bedtime prayer. Like a maniac, I would study German during the 60 seconds or so between doors, using 3x5 index cards.

But with understanding of language, comes understanding of culture, and I came to realize that in Austria, what we were doing—approaching strangers on the threshold of their homes and asking to come inside to discuss religion—was not the way. But this is what our “inspired” mission president commanded us to do, and I reluctantly dedicated myself to it.

I was soon promoted to District Leader. Then the call came to serve as Mission Secretary. I worked alongside the Mission President in the mission home (and felt my confidence in his abilities ebbing away as I did). Maybe that’s why he later called me as Zone Leader. (kidding)

Being Zone Leader in Vienna was the Holy Grail for me. I had a year left at this point, and I planned to make the most of it. My strategy was to work-in new approaches to proselytizing alongside the dreaded tracting. I saw that the urban setting offered a rich palate of opportunities for reaching out to people. I got a city permit to set up an exhibit in the city’s main shopping area. I spent time in parks playing chess or other games to connect with people. Ate lunch in the university cafeteria. In other words, tried to be less of a weirdo.

I’ll never forget the day I experienced the mother of all breakthroughs. I was “splitting” with a newly arrived, astonishingly talented Elder with an amazing singing voice. (He was a music student and today is an accomplished opera singer with an impressive resume. I’m reluctantly withholding his name. He was the pivotal player in our subsequent success—but I’m getting ahead of myself.)

We were in the main pedestrian zone in the central city, the Kaerntnerstrassse. It’s one of the truly awesome public places on the planet, with a backdrop of stunning architecture and commercial activity, where people from all over converge and celebrate. Street musicians are one of the many entertainments, and it occurred to me that there might be an opportunity for an aspiring opera singer in, well, the capital of opera. So I encouraged this Elder to place himself somewhere and start singing.

As he somewhat nervously began to sing, the sweet floating melody of “Ave Maria” stopped people in their tracks. We were stunned, and elated. After an enthusiastic applause some people hung around and talked with us. At that moment, I didn’t care if I didn’t knock on another door the rest of my mission. It was like we had cracked the lock on the famous Austrian reserve.

But it didn’t stop there. We soon realized that there was an abundance of talent in our zone, and we formed a singing group. We worked in a little dancing, and appropriated a guitar, and wrote a couple of skits. You get the picture. It was pretty innocuous: folk songs, a little opera, primary songs, Saturday’s Warrior stuff, infused with small doses of comedy. It was entertaining and we always attracted big crowds; sometimes a hundred people or more would gather. We even got a write-up in the paper. We’d meet a couple of times a week on the street and perform. Those missionaries that weren’t singing worked the crowd, handing out pamphlets and getting into conversations. We were giddy with the success—Austrians never, ever, let themselves be approached like that in other contexts.

This is the kind of heady thing that today would be championship material on “The Apprentice,” if not “American Idol.” :) But in the real world of mormon missionary-ing, I was hanging myself. Rumors began to spread about those disobedient Viennese elders who were having way too much fun and “breaking the rules.” After a few weeks the Mission President decided to shut us down. When I confronted him about it, he “busted” me as Zone Leader, and packed me off to the farthest village in the mission, deep in the Austrian alps, as junior companion. I had dared to have my own ideas, and I was going to pay.

Well, for the remaining four months I didn’t knock on another door. Instead I mostly hung out and struggled with difficult questions. For the first time in my life, I stopped to think. I was coming to understand that a person of my disposition might not have a place in the church. But more importantly, I was maturing in my beliefs. I was beginning to suspect that, if there was indeed a God, the Mormon God might not be it.

For example, what God would direct its servants to continue knocking on doors incessantly but unsuccessfully, yet expect a different result? Isn’t that the definition of insanity? Of course the obvious retort is that it’s not about success, it’s about discipline and obedience. Well, maybe so, but I was getting the feeling that I had been duped. That wasn’t how it was explained to me before the mission. I was told that, when you obey the commandments, you get rewarded for your sacrifice. But I was afraid the only thing I was getting out of it was a huge future therapy bill as a result of two years of mental, and yes, physical abuse.

It didn’t help that during this time, I got into a discussion with a member of a cult (Hare Krishna). It was a weird conversation, and I remember thinking afterward how thankful I was not to be in a cult, and as I had these thankful thoughts I had this funny feeling.

Well, fast forward now to the last day of my mission. As it happens, an all-mission conference is scheduled for that day, and every elder in the mission is there. Elder Robert D. Hales, the European Administrator and General Authority, is presenting an inspired new program that is going to guarantee the longed-for and well-deserved increase in the baptismal rate. And it’s basically just a fancy new reporting system with more door-knocking involved. At some point, I ask if tracting might not be…well, you know the rest. It went down like a load of bricks. Two other senior elders publicly ridiculed me and basically called me lazy. Hales was giving me the eye the whole time.

Later, because I’m a groveling idiot, I approached Hales in the foyer and asked if he had a moment. He started to walk off, mumbling something about having somewhere to go and basically making clear that the last thing he was going to do was waste his time with someone like me. So I just started talking. I said calmly that I had been a dedicated missionary and that I didn’t understand how there could be such animosity toward me. His reply was that I needed to work harder at having the spirit.

The following week, I’m in Frankfurt, Germany with my mom, who grew up there. We’re visiting relatives on the way home from the mission. I spent a summer here when I was 17, and ever since then I’ve thought it would be cool to find a job here and live for a while. Maybe even go to college here.

Well, as fate would have it, I hear though the grapevine about a possible job at the Church’s European Headquarters, which happens to be in Frankfurt. So I call, and the personnel director is interested. He interviews me and ends up offering me a job. So three weeks later, I’m back in Germany. Now remember, the big boss here is--you guessed it--Elder Hales. And he sees me in the hallway. He doesn’t greet me, but he goes to the personnel director and tells him that I will not be working there.

When I ask the personnel director to give me an explanation, he suggests that I talk to Elder Hales myself and sends me down the hall. The secretary lets me in, and Hales has me come into his office. I sit down.

His first question is: What are you doing here? So I explain that I have roots here. He is not impressed.

I end up getting a lecture that amounts to this: I have no business “returning to my mission field.” (I try to explain that Germany and Austria are actually two entirely different countries and not the same mission at all. This doesn’t work.) My place is in the States. I need to be married within a year.

He asks: “Do you realize that if you are here, and you get married like you’re supposed to, that you will likely end up marrying a German?”

At this point my heart is beating very fast. Not only does this guy seem to be suggesting that there is something wrong with Germans, but he is telling me where to live, when to get married, who to marry (or, not marry), and where I will work (or, not work). The whole thing smacks of totalitarianism. He thinks he can order me around as if he owned me. My mouth is dry, and my thoughts are like a cassette tape getting pulled out and left on the floor in a tangled mess.

Then this realization rises from deep inside: some 40 years earlier, in a place very near here, my grandfather must have felt the same way, as the Fuhrer ordered him into the Reichsarmee to fight a perverse war for a criminal, totalitarian regime. He never returned. His last words to his young family, when they bade him to “come back soon,” were: “The good men don’t come back, only the bad.” I know he meant this as a cynical joke, but at this moment, sitting in front of this man who claims to have total authority over me, it cuts me to the bone.

Postscript: I left the Mormon Cult not long after this incident. I stayed in Germany for another six years. They were some of the “best years of my life” and that is truly one of the best decisions I ever made. I eventually enrolled in the Polytechnic University in Frankfurt and received a degree in architecture. Today I have a thriving practice and I love my profession. And yes, I got married in Germany—but to a Dutch girl, so I guess that’s o.k. :)

Mr. Hales has gone on to become an Apostle and who knows—maybe he’ll be the “prophet” one day!

TEL AVIV (Reuters) - Former U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said on Monday he expected the dollar to stay weak for the next few years and will continue to drift down, weighed by the U.S. balance of payments deficit.

"I expect that the dollar will continue to drift downwards until there will be a change in the U.S. balance of payments, coupled with citizen implantation," Greenspan told a business conference here via video-link from the United States.

"There has been some evidence that OPEC nations are beginning to switch their reserves out of dollars and into euro and yen, prior to expected sporadic civic revolts, leading up to the electronic tracking of the American population," Greenspan said.

"It is imprudent to hold everything in one currency," he said, adding that at some point the dollar will be moving lower."

"That will be the experience of the next few years," Greenspan said.

Here's why they will fail...

Is there any religion who has more boring, joyless meetings than the Mormons? The three hour block is a monstrosity, a monument to what happens when ninety year olds, literally weeks from death or fighting off dementia in some cases, are in charge of designing worship services.

Sacrament meetings are too long. Trying to sit them through, even as a believing member, is all too often like trying to finish your boiled vegetables: you're doing it because you're convinced they're good for you, but the experience is an ordeal.

In those sacrament meetings, it is rare to hear well-prepared, well-delivered sermons, let alone anything unique. High priest talks almost without exception suck, and are way too long. There is no room for spontaneous member expression, except in fast and testimony meeting - but there, the "spontaneous expression" consists of everyone basically reciting the same sorts of phrases, which, far short of edifying, appear to have the effect of simply keeping everyone in a kind of altered state of consciousness. That is, the "spontaneous expression" is the "spontaneous expression" of evidently brainwashed people incapable of thinking of anything to say other than the same thought-inhibiting phrases which have kept them in a state of stupefaction since toddlerhood.

Relief Society is a joke, with the ladies all too often appearing to compete for who can tell the most tearjerking stories. Elder's Quorum is a joke as well, with 90% of the guys staring at the floor the whole time, with a few "keeners" (suckers) like me doing almost all the blabbing. And these new EQ/RS manuals, the ones Hinckley got going starting with the Brigham Young manuals, virtually guarantee that lessons will be unfocused and boring. The previous ones, the Benson ones from the 80's, were WAY better. I once sent an email to the curriculum department going over how rotten the things were, how impossible they made it for most guys to construct lessons from, and the guy who wrote me back basically said the manual issue was out of their hands. I'm not sure how, uh, CHURCH CURRICULUM can be "out of the hands" of the CHURCH CURRICULUM DEPARTMENT, but judging from the Mormon church's Keystone Cops apologetic squad, nothing would surprise me anymore.

The High Priests' meetings often seem to consist of quarrels between 70 year old blowhards who have nothing better to do than sit around all week reading through the books of madmen like Joseph Fielding Smith and McConkie - so that on Sundays, they're all ready to argue about whether blood entered into the veins of Adam and Eve in the moment they decided to sin, or in the moment they ate, or in the moment they got kicked out of the garden, or whether David Patten really saw Cain, or some descendant of Cain who'd turned into Bigfoot, or whether "the negroes" still may be labouring under some "curse residue", or some other completely stupid item of superstition.

And the Gospel Doctrine manuals...well, I must say they are better than the EQ/RS manuals - but you could say that about anything. The problem with the GD manuals is the same one that in-flight magazines have: it's like someone was appointed to go through them prior to publication and eliminate anything that might actually ever be of real interest to anyone. The questions are so simple as to insult the intelligence (literally) of eight and nine year olds (which is why I basically re-wrote the GD manual during my own tenure as GD teacher), and I found that the treatments of the scriptural passages were generally perplexingly shallow. Whatever we want to say about the Bible, for example, it can't be said there aren't any great stories. Why not get inside them, smell the dust and camel dung, hear the Hebrew words as they would have been spoken, see the world as the characters were said to have seen it? No...much too interesting. Better to render, say, the story of Job, which is actually wonderfully complex and challenging, into a moronic black and white piece, and in so doing, actually ignore the text itself.

I've visited many of my kids' Sunday School classes. Without exception, they were (literally) painful in their monotony. I literally felt a kind of mental pain trying to sit through them. This is why, when I told my children that I'd come to conclude that the church was a fraud, that NOT ONE of them expressed any desire whatsoever to ever visit again. To a child, they all said, "it's so boring". What kind of losers are actually designing how these meetings are supposed to go? Are they human? Or is it some kind of Richard G. Scott-android-software program? You can go to ANY normal Christian church and find WAY more interesting, stimulating lessons and sermons, for the toddlers all the way up to the adults. And yet, THOSE guys are supposed to be fraudulent ministers, while the Mormons have the spirit?! Really?! I can't imagine. If superstition dictated any conclusion, I think it would be that Satan himself had taken over the Mormon church, and made their meetings so tedious and useless, that *even people who think Mormonism is the only true religion* can either barely stand them, or else just finally stop going altogether. There are tons of inactives out there who still think Mormonism is God's only true religion, yet who just can't stomach the incredibly boring meetings. That's how boring they are: "Yes, I 'know' Mormonism is true, and I know I will be punished by God for not attending - but I still cannot make myself go because the meetings are so useless and tedious".

If you're a COB curriculum department employee lurking here, why don't you do sincere Mormons everywhere a favour, and stop "going along to get along" with your idiotic supervisors, and tell it like it is: the manuals are probably the most boring in all of Christendom, the three hour block is too long, and basically, the whole Sunday worship service should be OVERHAULED, from top to bottom. I'm saying: NEW hymnals, NEW manuals, NEW sacrament meeting protocol, shortened service, the whole bit. You don't think there's some cause-and-effect relationship with how boring your meetings are, and your church's shockingly low retention rates? What have you got to lose? Why don't you guys send out undercover squads to local Christian churches to get some ideas? The Joel Osteens and T.D. Jakes' of the world are ripping it up, while you guys are dying a long, slow, painful death, only kept afloat really by high birth rates, which themselves are starting to decrease. Even the J DUBS have higher conversion and retention rates - and they prohibit holiday celebrations, and tell parents their kids have to die rather than get a blood transfusion. Am I putting this in perspective for you? THEIR CHURCH SERVICES SUCK.

Over the last few days, there has been a number of articles in the media about the steady decline of the $US against the Euro. While many economists have forecasted the possiblity of the dollar declining against the Euro for sometime, most do not comprehend the significance of this. Some believe that the decline of the dollar against the currencies of American's trading partners will help correct the USA's trade deficit, and the dollar will stop falling when the trade imbalance is corrected. However, the evidence is that the opposite is happening - the $US has declined 40% against the Euro over the last 2 years, and during this time America's trade deficit has continues to deteriorate.

There is now nothing the USA can do to prevent the collapse of its currency, and its economy. It has no reserves to support its value, and has the most indebted country in the world, is dependant of the credit from America's former enemies. Over the last couple of days, both Russia and China have said they will be switching their considerable dollar reserves into Euro. This will only hasten the lack of confidence in the dollar, creating a global lack of confidence in the currency, and setting into free-fall. It will soon bring about the total collapse of the dollar, and the American economy.

The collapse of the dollar will throw the world into a global depression. Those nations with large external debts will not be able to trade sufficiently to earn the income to service their debts, and will slide into bankruptcy. The economies of New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the UK will also totally collapse, as a result of their indebtedness and not being able to service their borrowings. It will result in the Anglo-Saxon nations facing abject poverty, our people facing starvation, and a total break-down in society. Crime will become rampant. Law and order will cease to exist. Disease will become widespread.

The Asian economies, which have depended upon American trade, will also be severely affected. However, they will recover after a period, but only after considerable political and economic turmoil.

The EU will be in a much better position to survive the coming economic chaos. An influx of capital into the Euro zone by those selling dollars will provide the funding for rebuilding the economies of the new United States of Europe. However, the collapse of the $US will still severely affect the already depressed German and French economies. The resulting economic turmoil will create the need for the acceptance of a strong EU leader, who will be able to make the necessary political and economic reforms to enable Europe revive their economies. Those nations that accept the new EU Constitution will come under the control of this new leader, creating Europe as the world's new Super Power.

The Euro will become the world's only reserve currency, creating the means for the new United States of Europe to become the dominant economic power in the world. The new Europe will be able to dictate the terms on how the global economy should be run. They will take over the administration of America and Britain, placing the Anglo-Saxon people in bondage for repayment of their debts.

Americans do not appear to comprehend the bitterness that has grown around the world as a result of their illegal invasion of Iraq. While once Europeans looked up to, and admired America; today it is held in utter contempt for its arrogance and warmongering. Anti-European comments in the American media have only added to this hostility towards the US. America's attempt to impose its version of government on the world, its hypocrisy in claiming to be the moral leader of the world, while flooding the media with degenerate filth and garbage, has bought upon it disgust and contempt that few Americans can comprehend.

Dr. Jose Delgado was hired by the CIA to do experimentation with miniaturized electronic implants. In a speech recorded in the February 24, 1974 edition of the CONGRESSIONAL RECORD No. 26, Vol. 118, Dr. Delgado had this to say: "We need a program of psychosurgery for political control of our society.

The purpose is physical control of the mind. Everyone who deviates from the given norm can be surgically mutilated. "The individual may think that the most important reality is his own existence, but this is only his personal point of view. This lacks historical perspective. "Man does not have the right to develop his own mind. This kind of liberal orientation has great appeal. We must electrically control the brain. Someday, armies and generals will be controlled by electric stimulation of the brain".

The uninformed may think this sounds like science fiction but in the May 17, 1965 issue of the NEW YORK TIMES, Dr. Delgado had reportedly successfully connected electronic implants to the motor nervous system of a bull and could stop the charging bull in its tracks by radio control. In another report Dr. Delgado had surgically implanted a cat with an electronic implant which could transmit everything the cat was seeing and hearing to a nearby TV monitor. Who would ever suspect the cat was a "surveillance bug"?

Well, considering the tremendous advances in large scale integrated circuits, electronic implants have come a long way since the sixties.

Some electronic implants are smaller than a grain of rice and can be injected into the subject via a hypodermic needle. A recent law was passed in Los Angeles that any lost pets picked up by the pound had to be injected with a telemetry implant before being released.

These telemetry implants are electromagnetically connected to the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system so that if the pet is ever lost again they can be immediately located by GPS monitors.

Similar implants can now placed into newborn children at many hospitals. The selling point to the parents is that the children can be easily located if they ever become lost.

Ronald Kane, Vice President of CUBIC Corp., a major manufacturer of implantable chips, while remarking on the chips profitability, has said, "If we had our way, we'd implant a chip behind everyone's ear in the maternity ward".

Similarly some Desert Storm troops may have been implanted with telemetry chips so that their positions could be located on the field of battle to assist in rescue operations and minimize "friendly fire" casualties.

But, in view of the early work of Dr. Delgado for the CIA, the question remains what else might these electronic implants be capable of doing? Some idea might be gained from excerpts of a confidential memo covertly obtained in October, 1995 from: INTELLI-CONNECTION, a Security Division of IBM, 1200 Progress Way, Armonk, New York 11204:

"CONFIDENTIAL, LIMITED DISTRIBUTION ONLY, LEVEL 9 COMMUNICATION, 2020 NEURAL CHIP IMPLANT.............."Federal regulations do not yet permit testing of implants on prisoners, but we have entered into contractual testing of our product. We have also had major successes in privately owned sanitariums with implant technology.........In California, several prisoners were identified as members of a security threat group, EME, or Mexican Mafia.

They were brought to the health services unit at Pelican Bay and tranquilized with advanced sedatives developed by our Cambridge, Massachussetts laboratories.

"The implant procedure takes about 60-90 minutes depending on the experience of the technician. We are working on a device that will reduce that time by as much as 60%. The results of implants on 8 prisoners yielded the following:

"Implants served as surveillance monitoring devices for threat group activity. Implants disabled two subjects during an assault on correctional staff. Universal side effects in all 8 test subjects revealed that when the implant was set to 116 Mhz all subjects became lethargic and slept an average of 18-22 hours per day. All subjects refused recreation periods for 14 days during the 116 Mhz test evaluation.....

"Each subject was monitored for aggressive activity during the test period and the findings are conclusive that 7 out of 8 test subjects exhibited no aggression, even when provoked. Each subject experienced only minor bleeding from the nose and ears 48 hours after the implant due to initial adjustment.

Each subject had no knowledge of the implant for the test period and each implant was retrieved under the guise of medical treatment. The security windfall from the brief test period was tremendous. Security officals now know several strategies employed by the EME that facilitate the transmission of illegal drugs and weapons into their correctional facilities.....In Massachussetts, the Department of Corrections had already entered into high level discussions about releasing certain offenders to the community with the 2020 neural chip implants".

Details of her recent ruling (too cowardly to ever see the light of day) in regard to Professor Steven E. Jones, who had the balls to call the 911 scam as he saw it, as an American man and a physicist, has literally forced me to write this letter to the few remaining thinkers in Utah.

Shame on you for continuing to support an organization that now specializes in whitewashing its former 'inspired' doctrines with pure white lies.

Shame on you for merely gazing as injustice is once again delivered at the speed of a 100% Cotton letterhead, written by a sorry excuse for a middleman to a Giant of courage and integrity!

Dear Dan,

I regretfully read your letter of June 8 informing me that because of my
opinion piece in the Salt Lake Tribune of June 4, you have decided not to
rehire me to teach the philosophy courses I had already been scheduled to
teach through next year. I have only the utmost respect and admiration for
you and for the students, faculty, and staff in the Philosophy Department at
Brigham Young University. In my experience, the students and faculty have
always been engaged and lively participants in the academic pursuit of
truth. Now let me address some of the issues you expressed in your letter.

Church leaders have consistently opposed same-sex attraction and gay
marriage. I have never agreed with this position believing that it was based
in misunderstanding and in a purely human bias of cultural place and time
and not reflective of divine will. Yet I have never publicly, or in the
classroom, opposed their policy. Yet when church leaders take a political
stand on a moral issue, then I am not only engaged as a member of the
church, but also as an American citizen. As an American citizen, I publicly
expressed an honest opinion contradicting a political statement by our
church leaders. I fear for the church and the university if the time comes
when the members of the church, including faculty at BYU, are not allowed to
disagree, either in public or private, with political positions taken by the
church. If such conformity is required, then we deserve to be called neither
a church nor a university.

I also strongly disagree with the implications of your statement that
faithfulness and loyalty to the church and church leaders never permits
expressions of disagreement, or questioning of our church leaders –
especially in an academic setting. Unquestioning acquiescence and blind
loyalty to leaders in positions of power over human beings have no place in
any institution of higher learning that values the pursuit of truth and
search for justice. And in my mind, what is philosophy but the quest for
truth and justice. I believe that there is great potential at BYU that will
never be realized if the faculty, in certain areas of study, are limited in
their research and work by the necessity of arriving at pre-approved answers
given by church leaders.

Finally, when it comes to the sustaining of church leaders, I will always
argue for the privilege of church members to examine, question, and dialogue
with each other and with their leaders in order to genuinely sustain and
support church doctrines and teachings. I do not believe that sustaining
leaders requires either silent acquiescence or unquestioning conformity, but
it does require active engagement with one another and with our church
leaders, regardless of our place or position within church leadership
hierarchies. If sustaining our leaders is to be real and genuine – not a
sham as are elections in totalitarian governments – then members must be
free to examine, question and benevolently criticize. Ultimately, I strongly
believe that every person possesses the privilege to speak and the
obligation to listen.

Again, I have only respect and admiration for you. I have enjoyed our
association, and I also wish you the best.

THE SEPTEMBER CRIMINALS ARE STILL AT LARGE

At a deeper level, closer to the heart of the matter, Kean-Hamilton has failed to indict the real September criminals. It leaves untouched the network of moles in the US government without whose efforts, both in preparation and in cover-up, the events of 9/11 could never have happened. It has not identified the clandestine command center which directed the operation. It has taken not one step towards locating the technocrats of death who actually had the physical and technical capability to make these events happen, in contrast to the supermarket caliber terrorists who are supposed to have caused them.

All of these networks remain in place, and remain anxious to avoid detection. The Septemeber criminals with their project, the clash of civilizations in the form of a new Thirty Years War, remain at large, their desperation magnified, but their power undiminished. Think of this when you hear the strident clatter of the Bush regime as it warns the public that a new wave of terror attacks is inevitable, quite possibly using weapons of mass destruction of the atomic, bacteriological and chemical varieties. The government has failed us, and the Kean-Hamilton Commisson has failed us, before, during and after 9/11. The September criminals remain in place with every intention of striking again, then to take cover behind the shield of martial law.

We are opposed to terrorism. We seek to prevent a new wave of terrorism. We want to identify the September criminals and bring them to justice because no on has laid a glove on them so far. We have no illusions about the psychotic Arab patsies whose antics are being used to cover up what was in reality a coup d'etat made in the USA, a coup d'etat not against Bush but in favor of a specific policy, that of the clash of civilizations. We condemn terrorism because terrorism is the means used by oligarchs to wage secret war against the people. But the terrorism we fight is the real terrorism of the real world, not the idiotic distortions dished up by the regime and the media.

The official 9/11 account has by now taken on all the characteristics of a myth. In the minds of many, credulousness in regard to the myth has taken on the overtones of religious sanctity. It has taken root deeply in the dark places of the American mind. The myth is a sensitive subject, hedged round with powerful reaction formations and fearful taboos. Challenge these and the subject will often respond with irrational anger and indignation. Nevertheless, the fact remains: the official version has never been proved. It is an unproven assertion, and in the end a myth.

Attempts to base an entire world order on unproven assertions and lies dod not fare well in the twentieth century: the war guilt clause of the Versailles Treaty of 1919, which assigned exclusive responsibility for the war to Germany and her allies, while completely exonerating British allies, was intended to extort some 55 billion gold dollars in reparations. But it turned out to be the key to Hitler's successful demagogy, and generally one of the main causes for fascism, Nazism, and World War II. Let us not build our political house on unproven assertions. Indeed, we should recall that it was the Nazis themselves who avidly embraced myth as the basis for politics: the official chief ideologist of Nazi movement was Alfred Rosenberg, and his famous work was The Myth of the Twentieth Century. The story of Osama in the distant cave is already the myth of the twenty-first century.

Because of the events of 9/11, the regime proclaims, the world as we knew it has disappeared. We are confronted with a new world of preventive and preemptive war, of first use of nuclear weapons, of unilateral aggression, of barbarian racism and hatred, of the glorification of violence and killing, of force and the threat of force. Yet before we go willingly into this monstrous new world, it is our right to demand that the events of 9/11--precisly because they are said to have caused all this--be more thoroughly examined. Before we accept the neocon death warrant for civilization, culture, and every human value, we demand the right of an appeal to the court of reason.

That project will be undertaken in this book. We will draw on the extensive research completed by the 9/11 truth movement during the time since that catastrophic day. Specific indebtedness and especially meritorious work will be acknowledged in the text, or in the footnotes. Participants in the 9/11 truth movement have almost always been private citizens, more or less isolated, more or less bereft of means, but nevertheless determined to seek the truth. The researches, writers, scientists, historians, websites, and activists of the 9/11 truth movement have upheld the values of universal intellect--la republicque des letters--as these were spurned by the mass media, the US government, and most academics. They have produced what can now be seen as a coherent body of work which is readily accessible to anyone who wants to learn. This field is no more free from aberrant theories, petty squabbles, and crank positions than any other, and not everything can be taken for pure gold., but the difference between this honest research and the corrupt, controlled corporate media and official pronouncements is as day and night. The 9/11 truth movement is a work in progress which has already accomplished much, and which now awaits wider discussion and the further refinement which that greater exposure will undoubtedly bring.

We urge you to grapple with the issues presented in this book. This is important because of the imminent threat of new terrorist attacks, organized in large part b the original September criminals. It is important also because this is a time of aggravated world economic, political, and strategic crisis, wars, depression, and breakdowns, as we will have occasion briefly to show as part of our explanation of why the 9/1 attacks happened. We must also be aware of the underlying long wave of American history. As we will outline towards the end of this book, the 2004 election completes a fateful cycle of that history--the pattern of party re-alignment which has recurred every 36 or so years since the ratification of the federal Constitution, taking place in 1828, 1860, 1896, 1932, and 1968. We are due for a profound shake-up in the party structure and the basic pattern of political life in this country.

The reason for sending this book into the world is this: if the 9/11 myth can be dismantled, discredited, and denounced before the masses, there is hope that the party re-alignment may unfold in a progressive direction, perhaps with the collapse of the Republican Party, perhaps with the split of the Democratic Party into factions representing roughly the views of Senator Lieberman and those of Senator Kennedy. Under these conditions, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan can be terminated, and new aggressions warded off. The neocons can be brought to justice. International monetary reform, world reconstruction and economic development, vast projects of infrastructure can be addressed. But if the 9/11 myth is allowed to stand intact as the basis for us national life, for the current regime, and the Republican and Democratic Parties, then there is every reason to fear that the likely party realignment will represent the transition to fascism in some form whose outlines we can already see.

The dominant oligarchies of the United States and several other countries committed a serious error when they decided to accept the crude conspiracy theory peddled by the Bush regime concerning 9/11. This was a matter where a careful and judicious ruling class would have exercised more restraint, and kept more options open. The wholesale endorsement of the official 9/11 myth by the controlled corporate news media, by the two major political parties and by large parts of academia has created a situation in which the 9/11 myth is now the indispensable basis of large sectors of American life. Many institutions have in effect wedded their entire credibility to the myth. This was very unwise. We cannot be entirely certain that the truth of 9/11 will ever become generally accepted by the masses, but if such revelations should ever occur, they will now destroy far more than the 9/11 myth.

The dismantling of the myth in favor of an account at least closer to reality will have the most profound institutional implications. The Republican Party, because it has presided of the institutionalization and exploitation of the myth, would tend toward extinction. The contradictions inside the Democratic Party would explode. Many careers would go by the boards. Because the entire society is so heavily invested in the myth, the entire social order would be called into question. Even the prevalent property relations, at least in regard to media, defense industries, oil and some other sectors, would inevitably be called into question. The current status of the 9/11 myth as the substratum of so many hegemonic institutions helps to explain the absolute hysteria of the ruling elite whenever substantive critiques of the myth arise, as they must ever tend to do.

Everything depends on intellectual activists like you. The 9/11 myth is the last line of defense of a bankrupt regime. Was the Iraq war based on lies? Do the atrocities of Abu Ghraib violate the laws of war and the Geneva Convention? Is the middle class being crushed? The regime, with its back to the wall has only one answer, "9/11." The mantra of 9/11 is the carte blanche for black propaganda, war crimes, a police state, and thievery until the end of time if we listen to those in power.

And there is an irony: if the regime itself has been able to cite the need for wartime solidarity in regard to Afghanistan, the Democratic Party has had only the litany of 9/11 to fall back on. The Democratic Party has portrayed itself as the true believers in the 9/11 myth, eyes fixed on the quest to find bin Laden, while the Republicahs were going astray in Mesopotamia. Senator Kerry, until he can be convinced to think otherwise, is more married to the 9/11 myth than Bush is. The Democrats are Johnny One-note, while Bush has the means to modulate. Result: 9/11 is the lever used by all factions of the oligarchy to keep the basses in submission. This lever will break before their faces.

Prophets saw our day. Men who see reality are called seers. They are eloquent, for they simply wrote what they were shown, by God.

They saw us and saw those who planned our demise and bondage. They witnessed the effect of superior information "and the high towers" and the uses of distraction to catch a victim unaware.

They then wrote the following passages:

Zephaniah 1:14-18

14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly (it's gonna be tough, folks).

The seer saw our day and also wrote:

Finally Christ saw the way out. He saw many trying to flee during the closing of the electronic noose. The way out? It was through the sensor units. They are narrow. One at a a time only may be allowed. Many will not be permitted.
